Clinical Social Worker / Lead Clinical Therapist / Case Manager / Sociologist. I am a Registered Social Worker with private practice designation with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers. In addition to Master degrees in Sociology and Social Work, I hold certification in such areas as counselling, suicide intervention, Critical Incident Stress Management, non-violent crisis intervention, drug counselling, sexuality counselling, FASD and community development. I am a skilled counsellor, case manager, researcher, activist and community developer / organizer. My experience has involved working in the areas of social services delivery, health and mental health services, addictions, teaching, correctional services, family support, First Nations, seniors, and community development. My efforts have focused on resolving individual, family, group or community problems utilizing an anti-oppressive, strength-based, solution-focused framework of practice. I am able to assist individuals, groups, families and communities maximize empowerment, resilience and environmental mastery in order to ameliorate situations they perceive as needing change. I am also an experienced educator and facilitator having developed courses for and taught at private career college, community college and university levels, as well having developed and facilitate numerous continuing education and professional development workshops.
